St. Charles Borromeo, St. Charles, Missouri

This church was constructed in 1915 as the parish's 3rd church, which celebrated its 200th anniversary in 1991. Saint Philippine Duchesne taught in the school. Rodgers and Clark worshipped in the first church.

Despite the rich heritage, a major renovation in the early 1960's removed much of the romanesque design and artifacts, creating a sanitized interior.

The design called for restoration to a more authentic interior, upgrading to more contemporary forms of worship and major renovation to the exterior, heating systems, lighting and sound system. Major items or work included interior decoration, restoration of former altar and other stored artifacts and acoustic modifications. A gathering area was created by enclosing the area under the balcony with a leaded, beveled glass wall.
