St. Boniface Master Plan, Edwardsville, Illinois

St. Boniface Parish was faced with many challenges at their site in downtown Edwardsville, Illinois. Their church is becoming overcrowded, the school is in need of major renovations and additions, meeting space is sparse and administration offices are crowded into the rectory.

Stauder Architecture was retained to perform a Master Plan Study to accommodate the continuing growth of the parish. The first phase is the expansion of the church. Many schemes were studied, including the expansion of the existing church, renovation of the church into different functions and even demolition of the existing church. The final scheme, which is currently under construction, added a new church connected to the existing church, which will remain as a daily chapel and serve as overflow for large services.

The original school building will ultimately be razed and a new school constructed, along with a new parish center/gymnasium structure.
